Colombian photographer Efe agency Leonardo Muñoz, missing since Wednesday morning in Caracas, is among the Venezuelan authorities, who also arrested his two comrades – one Spanish and one Colombian, part of a team that left Bogotá. to cover the crisis in that country.
According to Efe journalists in Caracas, members of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) arrived tonight at the Agency's office, where they arrested Spanish Gonzalo Domínguez Loeda and Colombian Maurice Barrot Wargu and said Muñoz was arrested. Military Intelligence (Dgcim).
Sebina agents ordered Dominguez and Barrigo to spend them in a hotel where they stay in the Venezuelan capital, according to what they said, to collect their belongings and detain them for questioning.
The director of EFE in Caracas, Nélida Fernández followed the lawyer Domínguez and Barriga to try and clarify the situation in the Venezuelan authorities and get their release as soon as possible.
On 17 January, the EFE team went to Caracas to help cover the Venezuelan crisis, and after arriving at Maiquetía Airport they recognized themselves as journalists, enabling them to gain unrestricted access to intelligence, migration and customs. after they have been sent to several security filters for about three hours.
However, this Wednesday morning, when photographer Muñoz was about to cover the demonstrations against Nicolás Maduro in Petaré, he lost contact with him and their accompanying leader José Sala of Venezuelan citizenship.
For this reason, the Colombian government on Wednesday called for "the immediate release" of Leonardo Muñoz, who was considered to be missing.
"Colombian government rejects Colombian citizen Leonardo Muñoz, Efe Agency photographer's arrest in Venezuela, and demands his immediate release, and we demand respect for our compatriots," said Colombian Foreign Minister Carl Holmes Trujillo on Twitter.
When they traveled to Caracas, three EFE journalists received a plane ticket to return to Bogota on 7 February.
