The Nissan IMs concept is gilded in Nissan's future sedans


We have AMC Eagle to thank for the modern crossroads. Somehow, car manufacturers never mention that in their speeches, this wagon is very riding. But throw a suicide door and a huge glass roof, lay down the edges and remove the sealed halogens, and you will get a radical future, as the Nissan IM concept in the Detroit Auto Show says.

With its backrest and high ride height, the IP has a modern connection with four doors, such as the Audi A7. Nissan calls it an "elevated sports sedan". We can call it Maxima Cross Country, now that the Volvo S60 with the lift kit came. But the main word is 'sedan'. It's the style that the big three of Detroit swear that everyone has left when the stylish, fast and well-appointed sedan is what many people continue to buy. And that's exactly what Nissan IM promises to be. This is especially intriguing, because Sentra and Maxima are the next Nissans who are getting big updates.

As the IMX concept evolved in 2017, the IP is fully automated and electrical. The 115.0 kWh battery and two motors provide all-wheel drive, 483 horsepower, 590 lb-ft of torque and a theoretical 380 mph range. The steering wheel returns and the car's exterior lighting flashes blue to warn pedestrians when the driver is asleep or playing poker with passengers. It has side camera mirrors, a large screen and even a larger 22-inch drive instead. It is a modern item copied by car copiers. Innovation is the central back seat, one plus-two layout, where the "king", as Nissan describes this passenger, can fall back in the middle of the cab because his items dote to him from any angle. This includes front passengers whose seats are turned in during autonomous operation. Show McLaren F1, equipped as a high-end French living room with gold accents, something Carlos definitely depicts at this point.

There is enough space to stretch. IM's wheelbase is three inches longer than Nissan's most spacious sedan – the 2019 Altima (the oldest Maxima is tougher). It's also one inch wider, two inches taller and three inches shorter. The most sophisticated design comes from a dashboard that resembles a miniature foot bridge. Hidden and illuminated behind dash screens, Nissan repeated cumiko– Japanese masterpiece with sophisticated geometric pattern, like 3D printed trusses supporting instrument panel. The glass roof IM sits more Japanese models, called asanohathat resembles a hemp plant. They are warm, physically touched in a cabin that doesn't give pixel priority. They can be called strange with what Nissan calls Invisible-to-Visible technology. Showcasing the CES, Nissan showed that the entire windshield showed an expanded reality and then planned an avatar in the passenger seat as if Skyping could join you on a long journey. Everything the demo did to us caused the disease.

But in pure style IM is a breath of fresh air Nissan has to be injected into boring sedans like Sentra, a model we have found too much in common with wheat cream. Now it would be radical.
