Tel Aviv – Despite calling for a boycott, more than 40 countries want to participate in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Israel.
"42 countries will dare to dream of a 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv," writes the European Broadcasting Union as an organizer on Twitter on Wednesday. This is just one player less than the last competition in May in Portugal.
"Dare to dream" is the motto of the event. Israeli singer Netta won ESC in May with her song "Doodle". Therefore, the competition will be held regularly in May 2019 in the country.
In September, dozens of cultural activists opposed the orientation of the CEC in Israel. The reason was the breach of national human rights by the Palestinians.
The boycott invites Israel more often. They are contradictory because critics regard it as anti-Semitism.
