REUTERS: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said both Edinson Kavani and Anthony Martials were replaced during Saturday’s victory with a score of 3: 1 over West Ham United due to muscle injuries.
Uruguayan striker Kavani, who threw twice for Southampton last weekend, acted as a central striker against Westham, but did not make it to the London Stadium in the second half.
French’s Martials had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 62 minutes having been played.
Solskjaer confirmed that both strikers will be tested before Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with Leipzig RB, and “United” need a draw to qualify for the last-16.
“Sorry … sometimes you get muscle injuries. We lost Anthony and Edinson,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports. “It’s already a game on Tuesday. But it will probably be (like this one) this season.
“We have to play some games without players, and I’m glad we’ve made our changes.”
After Thomas Sucek put West Ham in the lead, the goals of Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and substitute Marcus Rashford helped United win their fifth consecutive victory this season.
