If you have problems with the touch screen of your iPhone X, you may be lucky. According to the support document, Apple detected a problem with some iPhone X devices that could cause the component of the display module to malfunction. The company has now launched a program to replace the affected screens for free.
Apple claims that the failed display components on some iPhone X devices have caused trouble. Some or all of the affected displays may not respond to the touch input, in some cases they can only respond at intervals. In other cases, the displays respond to the touch, even if they are not touched.
According to the repair program, users can visit Apple or an authorized service provider to check the iPhone X. If they make sure the device is suitable for repair, the display module will be replaced free of charge.
The repair program refers to affected iPhone X devices three years after the original sale date. Those who have already been paid to repair their iPhone X for similar issues could get compensation for the amount spent on repair if they find that the problem is foreseen in this new program.
Apple has not shown how this iPhone screen problem can affect iPhone X devices. However, users who drove last year with the iPhone X, sometimes reported touchscreen problems. Apple admitted that the iPhone X screens can be slow response to the touch input when subject to rapid temperature changes. But this new program is the first such kind of program that addresses a known issue with a smartphone.
The program covers only iPhone X, not iPhone XS or XS Max. It is unclear whether the same problem with the display module affects the latest iPhone or will be affected. With this program you will not be able to troubleshoot other display problems without problems, so you will still not be able to accidentally shake this precious OLED screen and AppleCare + will not.
