Uganda signs technology agreement with Microsoft

(Ecofin Agency) – The Republic of Uganda, represented by its Ministry of Information, Science, Technology and Heads of State, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft on 12 November 2018.

With this cooperation, the American technology community will help the country create an environment conducive to the transformation of the national ICT landscape into socio-economic development.

"We are committed to providing technical support to the ICT ministry and national guidelines to provide national centers of creativity with the tools and skills needed to use the 21st Century developer ecosystem in the region and develop world technical excellence. Uganda will be well prepared to develop next-generation applications. The key competences for implementing this solution will be initiatives such as our partners' skill center as well as the proper definition of the AppFactory model. "said Seobo Haileleul, Microsoft East Africa Head of State.

According to Minister Frank Tumwebaze (pictured), Microsoft will provide ICT with a vision for national development by 2040. He stressed that this is an important step as it will allow the transfer of skills and the quality of local innovators, so that the state can also export innovations.
