MILAN, Italy (Reuters) – Luigi Gubitos is scheduled to be appointed new CEO of Telecom Italia on Sunday after Alfredo Altavilla's departure from his role in Italy's largest phone group, according to a source familiar with the issue.
Telecom Italia will meet on Sunday evening to appoint a new CEO after Amos Genish, a former chief executive officer, was unexpectedly released last Tuesday while on business visit to Asia.
Both Gubitos, who was previously head of the telecommunications group Wind – and Altavilla, are on the board of Telecom Italia as independent directors appointed by Elliott, as the activists' fund gained control of the board members of the main shareholders Vivendi (PA 🙂 last May.
