Juan Carlos Rodríguez is a professor of biochemistry at the University of Engineering and Technology (Utec) and co-authored with an interdisciplinary project called Nanoparticles for tissue regeneration.
What does this project consist of? The study includes the development of two technologies: antibacterial nanoparticles and molecules for tissue regeneration.
The first eliminates microbes that try to interfere with the healing of wounds in the body.
The project was led by Javier Paíno as Chief Investigator, Juan Carlos Rodríguez and Anand Ramamurthi as researchers. The team consists of chemists, biologists, surgeons and specialists from the Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic (United States).
The team has already proved that antibacterial nanoparticles work. "We will now test in the tissues if the laboratory, combining it with biomolecules, will both restore the tissue at the same time, we go to the clinical stage to test animals and humans," said the Peruvian scientist La República.
The project started two years ago, and will end in 2019.
