According to a study, 11 million children under the age of five will die from pneumonia by 2030.

More than 880,000 children – mostly two years old – died of pneumonia only in 2016.

Based on current trends, more than 10.8 million children under the age of five die in the next twelve years. The study was conducted by researchers at the John Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA, and the Red Banner Assistance Organization.

In developed countries affected by these diseases, it is usually only the elderly population. In the less developed countries most children are affected. According to a study, Nigeria and India are among the affected countries, of which 1.7 million children will die from illness. According to a study, 700,000 children will die in Pakistan and 635,000 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Researchers also concluded that if vaccination is intensified and more people get antibiotics, this can save 4.1 million children.
