Manual overview: ASUS ROG STRIX Z390 E-Gaming



90% of people are not able to make full use of their investments in a modern computer. This may sound ridiculous, but it is true, mainly due to knowledge barriers.

Over the years, manufacturers have tried to offer automatic overheating and optimization features using pre-recorded profiles.

However, without taking into account other factors that may affect the result, these profiles often lead to unwanted side effects, such as overheating and unnecessary fan noise, and affect system stability.

I was not very excited when ASUS told me about my new AI overclocking. After all, this name has been used for ASUS motherboard products for more than a decade. Without much faith, I tried it trying to run the ROG STRIX Z390-E Gaming, and I was surprised by the boy …

When I took the ASUS BIOS screen, I immediately noticed something new on the bottom right of the screen, titled "Prediction." It is designed to accurately assess your system's ability from the next input to the BIOS, after Windows has approximately five minutes of heavy load.

Magic is an ASUS AI chip that accurately records your CPU activity with voltage, energy consumption and temperature changes. These data will be collected in some easy-to-understand numbers to help with your system setup process.

You can access the full instructions by pressing the F11 BIOS screen. If it is also possible to simulate the potential investment results for a better CPU cooler "AI Feature" group.

Sounds too good to be true, right? At first I did not see it, but I still followed the instructions given. When I returned to the BIOS settings, the predictions were data prepared for me.

On the right side, you see the maximum stable settings that it predicts, while the left side shows the recommended voltage with the Turbo Ratio configuration.

It showed that my CPU was able to reach 5200MHz non-AVX and 5000MHz with an AVX and 5100MHz cache, running respectively 1.2V, 1.25V, and 1.015V.

I cautiously entered the recommended settings manually in the BIOS. And now the truth is: I saved the settings and highlighted the computer with non AVX and AVX loads using both Prime95 and Cinebench.

The system was able to maintain some stable Cinebench tracks, followed by Prime95 torture tests for more than an hour, each time without flashing. During any inspections, no crash or safety disturbance was detected. That was something I certainly did not expect until I saw it with my own eyes.

If you think that all this is the Strix Z390-E Gaming can do, think again. Combine it with 5-way optimization. I simply optimized the system to optimize the balance between operating fan noise.

ASUS also included RAMCache 3 software, which dynamically improves the memory capacity of the system memory to improve I / O performance and overall SSD durability. This is definitely a useful addition to today's computer systems, especially after the SSD industry moves to a short-lived MLC-based SSD.

Regardless of how much the system can fine tune, everything will be meaningless if the system simply does not boot due to memory incompatibility. In addition to the sophisticated OptiMem2 layout, the good old MEMOK was introduced! The function has become smarter.

The system will attempt to automatically recapture the memory kit at the desired frequency, most likely boot error. This saves me the difficulty of returning to the BIOS to hack the memory settings, while turning the reports into accidentally selecting any incompatible memory.

Speaking of other hardware specifications, the ROG STRIX Z390-E Gaming also comes equipped with Intel's 160HT capable of dual-frequency AC WiFi, M.2 radiator and ASUS proprietary built-in I / O screen.

It is also worth mentioning that this is also the first motherboard that I completely reviewed without requiring either a driver drive or a visit to their site.

After Windows 10 is installed, it automatically installs the Armor Crate software and downloads all drivers so I can install it all with one click. However, this option may be disabled in the BIOS, if not desirable.

The ROG STRIX Z390-E Gaming is amazed. There is no marketing message, just a solid feature that works out of the box. If you are looking to make the most of your new computer investment, no more, this Strix will not love you.
