A person died in a Kiwi Lumber Masterton sawmill on Friday morning in a workplace accident.
The man died on Friday morning after a Wirarap sawmill.
Kiwi Lumber confirmed an incident at the Masterton Mill in Norman Ave, Waingawa.
Representative Liz Loze said: "As you can expect, the staff and site manager are very traumatized."
The person died on Friday 8:35, said the police.
According to the Kiwi Lumber website, the Masterton sawmill is "a structural plant focusing on the production of wood frame, mainly for home construction."
Andrea McCafferty, who worked across the street at Mainfreight's offices, said that Kiwi Lumber's gate was blocked, which was "not like".
WorkSafe said it was reported dead and investigated.
The area is known as the industrial area of the city of Wirarapa.
