On Friday, October 26, in the heart of the Dutch Royal Warmblood Studbook (KWPN), the Ermelo Rhinopneumon Evil variant EHV-1 was determined by one of the autumn performance test stallions. The Animal Health Service also had fever and stallion stallions with varying degrees of movement, but these two stallions were negatively tested by EHV-1. Three stallions were again tested on November 6 and the EHV-1 test was negative for all 3 stallions. Other stallions with EHV-1 symptoms were not added.
In consultation with Professor Marianne Sloet of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht, a specialist in horse diseases, it was decided to resume the current stallion performance test. If these stallions are now taken by their owners, we recommend that these horses be put in quarantine for at least 14 days. In principle, other stallions will remain in Ermelo until November 24, and then, after four weeks after the last fever, things have worked well.
The KWPN Center – and hence the evaluation day and ending presentation – is again open to owners and stakeholders. They have access to the KWPN office and the Willem-Alexander stand. Staples remain closed to third parties until the final design. All stable workers and riders continue to work under a strict hygiene protocol until further notice, including disinfection mats, inter alia, and clothing is changed.
