From the market point of view, there are all incentives for reducing system costs and passing on to end-users; however, it will depend on the regulator, the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), to ensure that these benefits are socialized, said Katya Somohano, CFE's Director General.
"The investments made in all these years in order to create an infrastructure for natural gas extraction from South Carolina will have a significant impact on the electricity generation matrix … which provides greater cost-effectiveness."
He said that when all electrical projects that were put into operation, the price of the system could drop from 25 to 30 percent; because it all determines the final energy costs for the consumer and is estimated to be in the next 24 months.
