Kuala Lumpur: Nordshahrul Idlan Talaha, better known as Mat Yo, was defeated by Malaysia with two dashed goals against Laos in order to win Malaysia in the AFC Suzuki Cup campaign held on Wednesday in the Bukita Jalil National Stadium.
The Malaymail reported that Chief Trainer Tan Cheng Hoe had changed his starting position in the game against Cambodia last Thursday when they won 1-0.
The naturalized player, Mohamadou Sumareh, was injured on Sunday training and was replaced by Safawi Rades on the right wing, while Syazwan Zainon and Syafiq Ahmad launched the clipboard instead of Syamer Kutty Abba.
Malaysia fell already in the seventh minute after the famous Laotian midfielder Phithack Kongmathilath.
However, Khairul Fahmi Che Mat broke through on the left and put the 1 – 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. Malaysia immediately raised its pace.
On the 15th minute, some good players on the right allowed Syahmi Safari and Selangor sent a cross captain Zaqhuan Adha Abdul Radzak to move to the goal.
The restless attacks by Malaysia in the second half of the year created a number of odds for the goal, but at the end of the four minutes left in the regulation, Norshahrul Idlan Talah won a close range after Laos defenders failed to clear the Malaysian corner kick.
He added Malaysia's second and third game during a stroke by flying behind defenders to drive the ball home from a distance.
With two wins in a row, Malaysia temporarily occupies the A group with six points in two games.
They face a Vietnam tournament next Friday at the Hanhans Minh Dy National Stadium. –
