Former Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin, who was cautious about party collaboration with FPS, admitted that he had an unusual appearance at the PAS event in Cala.
Speaking at the Pendang PAS office in Kedah yesterday, Khairy said there was no choice but to join forces with Pakatan Harapan.
"Umno, I am one of the people who is very cautious about PAS-Umno cooperation.
"KJ is not historically talking about the PAS phase, but I came here tonight because I believe we have no choice but to cooperate against Harapan in the next general election," he said. Utusan Malaysia.
In his speech, Khairy urged Umno-PAS cooperation to go beyond Malaysia and Islam.
"It is true that our co-operation started on the basis of Malaysia and Islam, but this cooperation needs to be expanded, because Malaysia is a diverse country that has many religions and multiple races.
"We need to unite to help the poor regardless of race and religion to maintain unity in the country – only then will this coalition succeed," he said.
At the same time, President PAS Abdul Hadi Awang posting on Facebook questioned why Umno-PAS cooperation was compared with the Taliban and described as racist.
He also questioned why equal treatment is not granted to those who champion traditional schools
"What's wrong when we accept our faith and ideology to a fanatical level. Islam too is unacceptable to be a racial fanatic.
"We see that, in cooperation with Malaysia, it is considered racist, fanatical and labeled as the Taliban, but when they do, it is not racist.
"They demand Chinese schools and other schools, is it not racism?" he said.
