Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra has launched a project called '' Plecu at the shoulder '', the idea of which is to give students of regional music schools the opportunity to try to be part of a large symphony orchestra and work with a recognized conductor. This time the students performed together with students of Auce and Dobele music schools.
For the last ten days, students of Auce and Dobele music schools have been particularly interesting and stressful.
“I feel there is a little bit of difference, or play with known or unknown [cilvēkiem]. Playing with known ones is a little bit safer, but playing with unknowns is not as safe, ”says Anna Dobele music school student.
And finally the big moment is here. Young musicians take their seats in the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music symphony orchestra to recognize Edward Grieg Morning and Mountain King's Cave from Peer Gints Suite.
"The feelings of playing for the first time were indescribable because there was also great excitement at times," said Endy, a student of Auce Music School.
The idea that students could play "Shoulder-to-Shoulder" with young musicians from regional music schools was created by the director of the symphony orchestra when the orchestra from the Netherlands visited Riga last autumn.
“They also played one piece together with the young musicians. A few days later, meeting our students at the Academy of Music, they were simply steeped in their project. I went and thought so … pag, pag, but why our orchestra wouldn't be able to make such a project in collaboration with the places we go. We are already a regular Latvian-based orchestra of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, ”Jānis Puriņš, Associate Professor of JVLMA, told about the idea.
Conductor Kaspars Adamsons, who has experience with many famous orchestras, admits that pupils have been very diligent, and even in such a short period of time, feel the improvement of technical skills. However, the students of the Academy of Music were also the winners.
“This is the chance to be a big brother or sister. Of course, technically more capable than young children, but giving very specific indications can improve their game, ”said the conductor.
Already in the autumn the project "Shoulder-to-shoulder" will be continued and the symphony orchestra will visit another county.
