Yiddish "Fiddler" to continue at stage 42



The production of the Fiddler on the Roof, the Fiddler on the Roof, of the Jiddish National Theater, moves to Mid-Band Off Broadway, stage 42, where previews will begin on February 11, 2007. The opening is scheduled for February 21.

Musical, following the story of Tevje and his family in the Emperor's Russian Painting in 1905, will end at the Jewish Heritage Museum in Mannheim on 30 December.

Written in English with Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein, and based on Sholem Aleichem's work, the show was originally released on Broadway in 1964. Music was transformed into Yoga Shraga Friedman and for the first time in Israel in 1965.

This production in Yiddish with English and Russian supertracks has been extended four times since it began on July 4th and was recognized as an unexpected success.

It is led by Joel Gray, and Steven Skibel repeatedly takes her role in Tevje as well as Jackie Hoffman as Yente. The products will be presented by Hal Luftigs and Jan Robbins.
