KFAR MACCABIAH, ISRAEL, 5 November 2018 / EINPresswire.com / – The Executive Director of Maccabi World Union (MWU) is proud to announce the appointment of Ido Aharoni as the Global Ambassador of the organization.
Aharoni is a veteran at the Israeli foreign service, where he spent his entire career in nearly three decades in the United States, which reached the six-year term as Israel's Secretary General in New York (2010-2016).
In this new leadership position, Ido Aharoni will help MWU represent international forums, build strategic partnerships with leading global sports institutions and brands, and work to improve MWU's overall positioning as a global brand. Ido Aharoni, who is best known for his work in managing the Brand Israel program, is a well known branding specialist and teaches this subject at New York University.

MWU was founded in 1921 and is considered one of the largest sports organizations in the world, producing Israeli Fishing Games every four years, attracting more than 10,000 athletes. MWU, which consists of 450,000 members who have a passion for sport and love for Israel, covers more than five continents and more than 80 countries.
MWU was created at the 12th World Congress of Zionists in Czechoslovakia in 1921. The goal was "to promote physical education, belief in the Jewish heritage and the Jewish people, and to work actively to rebuild our country and save our people." In 1960, the International Olympic Committee officially recognized the Maccabi World Union as the Organization for the Existence of the Olympic Games.
