Sony is generally profitable, but the mobile division has returned to the quarter. In 2018, the company delivered 6.5 million smartphones, down from 13.5 million copies in 2017. In other words, deliveries were more than half.
Mobile operations lost nearly 3.5 billion Swedish kroner in the last quarter of last year. The loss for the whole year was about SEK 8.3 billion. A month ago, Nikkei claimed that Sony plans to halve its smart phone workforce by March 2020 and, according to Xperia's blog, Sony Mobile will leave several regions, such as South America and the Middle East.
