London: Another 15,539 people in the UK have tested COVID-19, according to official figures, the total number of coronavirus cases in the country is up to 1,705,971.

Coronavir-related deaths in the UK rose from 397 to 61,014, data showed on Saturday, Xinhua news agency reported.

The figures came when Britain’s chief medical staff warned on Saturday that next winter the health service would have a “particularly severe” coronavirus, despite expectations of the vaccine.

“While the very welcome news on vaccines means we can look forward to 2021 with greater optimism, the introduction of vaccines will have little effect in reducing the number of future COVID healthcare services over the next three months,” key medical staff told a letter to colleagues. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Experts urged the public to show restraint and self-discipline, especially before Christmas.

England now has a new three-tier system of coronavirus restrictions that replaced the month-long state blockade in England that ended on Wednesday.

Under the new system, shops will be allowed to reopen across England, giving a Christmas dove to the struggling retail sector, but all bars and restaurants in the toughest Level 3 areas will remain closed. The system ranked about 98 percent of England in the top 2 and 3 levels.

However, between 23 and 27 December, up to three different households are allowed to meet in a private house, place of worship or public outdoor space.

To bring life back to normal, countries such as Britain, China, Germany, Russia and the United States are vying for time to develop coronavirus vaccines.
