“1974, PARTY OF THE CAMPAIGN” WAS NOT SEEN THE FILM VGE
Raymond Depardon had dedicated a masterful documentary to Valery Giscard d’Estaing about his presidential campaign in 1974, which was censored until its first broadcast in 2002. For what reasons? “It’s a secret,” affirmed the documentary filmmaker this Thursday at LCI.
“Giscard has always said that this movie was very violent,” he says. “Since I hadn’t filmed his speeches, but I wasn’t interested in his speeches (…) I wanted to shoot instead of this movie (…). Wide angle. as a tape recorder, and perhaps it was violent to hear. “
“There is one thing we forget a bit, and that is that at the time, the presidents did not ban the image, but the direct sound,” recalls Raimonds Depardons. “The revolutionary in this film is the sound. I think Valery Giscard d’Esting was alarmed by the sound.”
