US government appeal ruling blocking the Keystone XL pipeline

The Trump administration appeals to a court order that blocked the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

Attorneys at the Department of Justice on Friday appealed to the US District Court Judge Brian Morris in November for blocking the construction of a 1900-kilometer pipeline.

The line is sponsored by Calgary-based TransCanada to start Alberta and shuttle as much as 830,000 barrels per day of raw through half a dozen states terminals on the Gulf Coast.

It was rejected by former US President Barack Obama in 2015. This decision was lifted in 2017 by President Donald Trump, who has contributed to the $ 8 billion project as part of efforts to increase American energy industries.

After the environmental groups were summoned, Morris said that the administration had not taken full account of the potential oil spill and other impacts and that further inspections were required.
