Gas Price P.E.I. has come yet another unexpected hike overnight, this time increasing by five cents per liter.
Diesel and furnace and furnace oil prices also increased in unplanned price increases.
Including taxes, pump prices for conventional unleaded petrol in self-service areas will now vary from 134.6 to 135.7 cpl.
Diesel prices rose by 1.5 cpl and now range from 136.2 to 137.3 cpl.
The maximum price for oven oil will now be 105.5 cpl, including five percent HST, after rising by 3.0 cpl at night.
The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission notes that the price of the oil market has steadily increased over the last five months. Demand has also increased, as has the level of stocks of all petroleum products. Oil prices have risen by 43 percent since December, while gasoline demand is almost six percent higher than last year. Gasoline inventory levels are now about four percent lower than the five-year average.
As of April 26, pump prices in the region are reported by Moncton 135.7 cpl, Halifax at 133.7, Montreal at 142.6 and national average of 138.3 cpl.
