With Life programs and OP environmental projects up to 3 years old, we need to change the more environmentally friendly heating, which is about 30% of households. The FOCUS news agency reported that Yoranda Fandakova, mayor of Sofia, said after verifying the implementation of a pilot project to install a filter for buildings heated on solid fuels in the Krasny Poljan region BKS building.
The mayor of Sofia explained that BSC is a unit that takes care of cleanliness and mowing in the Krasna region of Poland.
"In fact, we started and demonstrated a pilot project that we are building with a company that donated 10 filters to the municipality of Sofia. There are two, and the remaining eight are located in private buildings on a proposal from the District Mayor. The aim of the pilot project is to measure and ascertain the impact of these filters. Around 3500 BGN is each value. Obviously, not every household can afford such a filter, but the effect is apparent: last year only one such filter was measured and it was found that the reduction from 75 to 80% of the emissions from solid fuels. it is obvious that the question is about how it can be used: families who can afford and feel the cleanliness of the air can always do this. The question is about other families. We know that in winter the main source of air pollution is heat with solid fuel, low quality coal, damp wood. What do we do? With government and EC support we have conducted a survey – about 55,000 households in Sofia are being heated to solid household fuels. They have a completely different social status, "she said and explained that there are socially disadvantaged families and there are those who can afford to invest.
In her view, the municipality of Sofia focuses on households that do not have enough opportunities to invest in a more environmentally-friendly substitute. "We have developed two projects. With one we have submitted the application directly to the EC. This is in line with the Life program, we participate in it with several other major municipalities in Bulgaria.
Its total value exceeds EUR 16.6 million. This includes all municipalities. This will allow us to support 140 households at the first stage, supporting the purchase and replacement of alternative and environmentally friendly fuels, "added Fandakova. She indicated that it was gasification, district heating, electricity, pellet stoves.
"You know that we have another pilot project that we have to report this year, offering 30 granular stoves. We are currently preparing a major project, which we will request according to OP" Environment ", which will allow to increase household assistance," said Mayor of Sofia.
