Amazon, the Amazon online giant, will deploy its new headquarters in New York and Arlington, Virginia, near the capital, Washington.
The two new units will work together about 50,000 people, the company said. Amazon already employs thousands of people in New York and Arlington.
The office of the company in Seattle stays. "Amazon's investments in each of the two new facilities will contribute to the creation of tens of thousands of additional jobs in surrounding municipalities," the company said, adding that recruitment will begin next year.
There was concern that the choice of cities in Amazon's new headquarters would affect the housing market and transport systems.
"New York will have tens of thousands of new, well-paid jobs, and Amazon will be the world's most talented workforce in one of the most special spots on the planet," New York mayor wrote to Twitter Bill de Blasio.
The Amazon statement says it will receive tax rebates under a $ 1.2 billion special tax relief program in New York. Arlington and Virginia offer incentives worth $ 573 million.
The company announced that Nashville, Tennessee, will have a new Amazon center employing 5,000 people.
Initially, 200 cities and municipalities have proposed the adoption of new headquarters. In January this year, Amazon reduced its number to 20. / BTA
