Every year, the fleet in Germany squeezes 10,000 tonnes of brake dust. This is what the experts call the material that separates the wear of the brake lining.
This problem has been solved by the German company MANN + HUMMEL, which has developed a new type of filter mounted directly on the brake discs. Volkswagen is already testing the design to be installed in series for up to two years.
The device weighs about 500 grams and captures up to 80% of brake dust. The new filter will not forget the engineers who develop the suspensions because it increases the weight of each wheel. According to experts, the introduction of such technologies is inevitable, as it has been proven that brake powder causes lung and heart disease.
