Diabetes, another reason to take care of yourself

This is World Diabetes Day, and diabetes in Rouyn-Noranda wants to explain this chronic disease.

Type 1 diabetes is caused by a pancreas that does not provide enough insulin to circulate glucose, therefore sugar, in the blood.

Therefore, people who use it should inject insulin several times a day. He is diagnosed in childhood or early adulthood.

Type 2 diabetes has developed in adulthood due to bad lifestyle habits such as poor diet, lack of physical activity or socio-economic factors.

Diabetic Administrator Rouyn-Noranda Anne-Marie Trépanier lives with type 1 diabetes for 23 years.

She sees her illness as a message that cares for her.

"The better we eat, the more we move, the easier it is to control the condition of life. Of course, insulin is always the first solution. It also brings us tough, every day we need to monitor sugar, insulin, drugs several times."

"We really want to inform them about this disease so that they talk as much as possible, the more we talk about it, the more people are aware of this disease, [ils] can take care of them. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by the best teams in this region. "
