Reminder at dm: increased levels of aflatoxin in organic cereals

The pharmacy chain dm resembles the character of "dmBio long grain rice". Affected are goods with the best before dates (MHD) 26.10.2019 and 23.11.2019 MHD is easily recognizable on the packaging side. "Reason for Reminder: It cannot be excluded that aflatoxin levels will increase in products with the above-mentioned MHD," the company writes in a statement. Aflatoxins are poisons that can affect your health.
Do not use the affected product
Customers are required not to use the product with the aforementioned BBD and return it in an unopened or open DM market.
The purchase price will be refunded.
"Aflatoxins are metabolites formed by various mold fungi," explains dm-drogerie markt.
"A template can be formed, for example, by insufficient drying or improper storage," it says.
According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), aflatoxins are "one of the strongest naturally occurring toxins and carcinogens".
According to experts, aflatoxins have shown carcinogenic effects (especially liver cancer) in animal experiments.
In humans, "a possible association with hepatitis B virus is being discussed in case of liver carcinoma".
As the Institute's reports on its website, mold toxins are "thermally stable and destroyed only to a small extent during cooking or baking. They can be used with food or with polluted air."
