In South Africa, a free Viu streaming service was launched

The streaming service Viu is officially launched in South Africa, offering a wide selection of local content in addition to international exhibitions.

The launch of the new platform was announced on February 28 at a media event in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Viu offers content that you can watch for free, with ads shown, but users need to register and apply for the Premium plan to access additional exclusive exhibitions.

Premium membership can be renewed monthly, weekly or daily – depending on the customer's chosen plan.

Users with a Premium Subscription Plan will be able to access Premium Videos, and will not show ads with content.

Below are Viu Premium membership prices:

  • Days – R5
  • Weekly – R20
  • Monthly – R69

Content Selection

Viu recently announced that it cooperated with the SABC and obtained the right to broadcast certain SABC shows, including Uzalo and Skeem Saam for 24 months.

These shows are marked as Viu Exclusives on the streaming platform website.

The platform also provided the right to 18 South African names on request and offers various other materials in the web interface.

Etv shows like Imbewu: Seeds and Scandal! are also available through the Viu platform, and there are several exhibitions marked as Viu Originals.

The video offered on another platform includes Bollywood movies, African series and movies, and South Asian shows.

Users can visit Viu to view free shows and sign up for a service premium package.
